SIP - cyber paint-along 4

Every weeks exercise is a clean sky and glowing sun. Our sun below is center stage. All the colour information is in our sun reference. So the landscape/tree reference will always be black and white because its a supporting player, a moving target.....and should evolve with the painting. In other words be creative!

Moody, the transition between night and day, is more lyrical in nature and more often successful when its "soft and simple". I always opt for simple.

Atmospheric Mood "Soft and Simple"

SIP TEAM RESULTS

We mix and match a variety of sun and grey scale tree references studying the sunrise and it's effects on the landscape. This challenge, besides converting a black and white tree reference to colour is also a lot about composition, depth, shadows and colour balance! Basically following the sunlight as it moves around and through the landscape and how it effects or modifies colour we normally see in daylight.

This week we upped the anti with our sun references. They were broad ranged, not simple, but more dynamic and a greater challenge! So, as expected, "soft and simple" was thrown out for more drama.

A RELEVANT QUOTE!

"A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people." Edgar Degas
