Free again!

Looks like we have the right to move around again. The market is forming a steep "V" formation and will soon surge beyond its best high. No recession in sight!! Our fans, our collectors stayed true and supported their favorite artists. Business survived with curb service and delivery. Time to celebrate not destroy what we have as a nation built! Just saying!

SIP Sunday 6/7/20

Sunday, we had a surprise, a full house eager to paint. Me, I never got around to it! Our space worked well for social distancing.

This time I managed a few photos before everyone left.

Barbara started a beach painting last week
This week finished!
Kathy's last week's is progressing to a finish
I like the rainbow palette:=)
Capturing a morning walk along the river

I am looking forward to the next one!
Ellen rejoined SIP to get her mojo going!
She has homework - binge painting horses
A thought!
A method of intuitive painting is bingeing on an element, like horses until you get it! The first part is the outward shape, the attitudes of the creature and applying paint directional to the movement. Unless a solid colour, there is direction and movement. If nothing else caused by light drifting from a direction over a surface.

The eye level is at the horizon which means the near horses will increase in size, and possibly break the horizon unless you are taller.

Swimming-in-paint gal is back from travels
A background for a grove of trees and flowers yet to be painted
Cynthia is a new member of SIP
Working top down - nice I-pad setup
Puppies on a chair made leaps from last
This is a nice piece of work (not a great photo)
Mike has a new storefront painting ready to hang!
Joan's Plein-air finished up and looking good!
Painted from a plein-air reference - finished!

Monday-Friday in the studio, the same canvas is still blank on the easel. I have three new digital captures from Old Town Editions to proof for printing. And, website needs attention so might spend a few more days on back-of-house chores. Clear the cobwebs before hitting the easel again on Sunday.

A weeks worth of paint & canvas (1340)

SIP Sunday at Crossroads was a perfect end last week. We really do enjoy the day kibitzing and swimming-in-paint. So much so I totally forgot to pull out the camera - planned to but....

NEW SELFIE (started Sunday)
Canvas 1340-1 24x20 (Sunday 5-31-20)

Back in the studio my second pass failed, not sure why, different light, just did not work. Finally, mineral spirits, a rag and wiped the fresh paint off. Unfortunately, some of the original work went with it. My only option was to start over. Nothing to lose here, scaled off the hand, made a few modifications and ended here for the day.... OUCH!

EACH IMAGE IS AT DAYS END
1340-2 (6-1-20)
1340-3 (6-2-20)
1340-4 (6-3-20)
1340-5 (6-4-20)

FINISHED or NOT!
Selfie #3, 24x20 oil on linen (6-5-20 canvas 1340)

My favorite bit of paint this week is the paintbrush below! The rest of the painting is up for grabs to how it turned out.

MY FAVORITE BIT!

A long week on this one. Not expecting it would be quite as annoying as it was. I decided good or bad, today was the last day! Hand might be too big for its own good, love the brush! Other than a bit overworked here and there not a bad week at the easel....  Tomorrow will be a no painting day!

A final note, the I-pad is particularly good at exposing details often missed in a photo..
