Canvas 1153, TRAVELER

Canvas 1153 is on the large size at 48x56 and already a traveler. Traveler was started very late in the day on June 1st in the studio. I had to move it back and forth weekends between my studio and Swimming-in-Paint at Crossroads. I had one idea at the start, including a title  "Spring Salad". All the images below are end-of-day.

SPRING SALAD 56x48 oil on linen (6-15-17 canvas 1153)

"SPRING SALAD" is a good example of "staging" large works over a period of time. Painting large is actually easier than smaller standard sizes like 20x24. Freedom of movement is not constraining. Think of a conductor in a 3x3 space.....all you would hear is the clanking of the baton on the walls. The music would be lost...... For me, painting is about light and colour rhythms - sometimes that requires a bit of dancing room.

FUTURES.... & DIVIDENDS

How can we benefit financially once a painting leaves the studio and the party is over? Good news! We own the copyrights to our original work, why not exploit it, find ways to take advantage of that fact. Sometimes I license the rights to an image and collect royalties. Sometimes I take full control for "special works" through "Private Collection Giclee". I do special limited edition artist embellished giclees. They are same size, equally framed and very comfortable with originals.

Good quality digital captures of selected  works for reproduction rights is worth it for present and future use to any working artist or their estate. Especially our best work because it can pay off in the end. Good work will always have more than one admirer. Technology available today  makes it possible for more of us worldwide to personally enjoy art through quality giclee reproduction. Fine Art Reproductions or artist copies have played an important part in art throughout human history.  Besides art is meant to be shared and original anything is hard to come by in the 21st Century. So, team take advantage of it! First, make sure you have quality work enticing enough at 30 feet and touchable close up before you do.

BONNIE JORDAN'S MAGNIFICENT - MOONLIGHT SONATA
Moonlight Sonata by Bonnie Jordon 36x30 oil on linen

Swimming-in-Paint team member, Bonnie Jordan had a professional colour corrected digital capture  made of her wonderful lily painting above to share with others. She has many reasons beyond sharing, she can also collect dividends from her hard work or not part with the original and still collect dividends. Coach gets it.....coach has a few not leaving his protection too!

Bonnie's "Moonlight Sonata" will be on display through June in Chuck Larivey's gallery at Crossroads Art Center. You might also conciser a good quality PRIVATE COLLECTION GICLEE too.

Stop by, take a peek or better yet give one a good wall to hang around on.

Dividends from our work - having a Swimming-in-Paint party!

Hundreds and hundreds of artists and art enthusiasts pack the Crossroads Art Center's 25,000 foot facility to celebrate art and makers of art. Wine, party nibbles and live music adds to the experience.  Crossroads does this every two months without fail.

Last months open house had many exhibits going on at the same time. This year Swimming-in-Paint joined the celebration. The team gets to show off their "WOW" paintings, see their work all dressed up and displayed with other teammates work. A well deserved reward for a month of Saturdays and Sundays spent Swimming-in-Paint at Crossroads every weekend. As their proud painting coach, I'm happy to say they are making good progress too!
