Frederick Judd Waugh (September 13, 1861 -- September 10, 1940) was an
American artist, primarily known as a marine artist. During World War I,
he designed ship camouflage for the U.S. Navy, under the direction of
Everett L. Warner.
Waugh's work requires no lofty words. One only has to study his paintings to understand his value. His lush brushwork is touchable, thick, perfect strokes of clean colour Makes you want to pick up a brush and paint the sea!!
