A weeks worth of paint and canvas (851-8 Day eight)

Final Punctuation....the detailed clean up part. Sometimes referred to the last 15-mintues; will be a bit more complicated here because I worked the whole canvas as opposed to finishing each area before moving on. Not a very efficient process but it was a learning process. I have a half dozen small areas needing attention.

BEFORE AND AFTER DETAILS

Raw edges on the chair frame

A bit better

A lot of undefined shapes in front of "old salt"

Better - more sand area in the distance and cleaner more defined shapes.

His head, where it intersects with her legs, need clean definition

Better - his hat and her legs now read as independent shapes

His hand will require a lot of work - with a weak reference I just have to make it feel right.

Better than I ever hoped!

My feature couple just didn't cut it!

I spent a lot of time on her by adding sun glasses, different hair arrangement for more interest, and especially to add height - I like the coke can and his yellow hat, it just sings as it had too.

Towel bottom much too vague for the foreground

Better

Added beach bag, flip flops and Sign off!

For better or worse, its done!

MY ONE PAINTING OF THE WEEK

851 A Day at the Beach 66x60 oil on linen (8-9-13)

Need a break! Going to the beach - more photos of course:=)

Later.....
